An independent advisor with special interest in intersections between culture and environment, coordinating the Convention on Wetlands’ Culture Network and chairing the Arts & Environment Network
I serve as an independent consultant in both the environment and culture sectors, persistently championing stronger links between the worlds of environmental policy, cultural heritage and the creative arts.
I have been involved in a variety of research, policy, legal, management and governance roles in these different sectors for over 35 years, and now act as an independent adviser to bodies ranging from the UN Environment Programme to the Arts Council in England.
With a special interest in the intersection between cultural values and environmental management, I am also a research collaborator with academic bodies in the UK and Australia, I sit on a range of national and international boards and advisory committees, and regularly write reviews of visual arts projects and exhibitions. At global level I coordinate the Culture Network of the intergovernmental Convention on Wetlands, and in the UK I chair the Arts & Environment Network.
